Museum of Freemasonry is open to everyone. You don’t have to be a freemason to come and there is no admission charge. The Museum and Library are inside Freemasons’ Hall, an impressive Art Deco building in Covent Garden. Here’s what you need to know to get the most from your visit.

Our main entrance is at 60 Great Queen Street.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We meet all national and international safety precautions for public buildings. While it is not legally required, you are free to continue wearing a face covering if you feel comfortable doing so. Please try to keep some distance if you find yourself in a busy spot also. Temperature checks remain in place at the entrance to Freemasons' Hall for your comfort and hand sanitiser is available throughout the building.

Information

There is an information desk is on the ground floor as you come into Freemasons’ Hall. The building is also the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England, so the staff at the desk will direct you to the Museum on the first floor.

Museum of Freemasonry

The Museum and Library are on the first floor. Head up the stairs or use the lift. Our team will greet you at our Welcome Area. If you have any questions about the Museum, our displays or collections, just ask one of our friendly team. 

North Gallery

Start your journey at the North Gallery to get a feel for the past three centuries of freemasonry.

Kent Room

This is an active lodge room for viewing only. On occasion it is used for special talks and performances.

Library and Archives

Located between the North Gallery and the South Gallery, the restored Art Deco Library is free to use but you do need to register to see the books. The Library and Archives contain books and manuscripts on every facet of freemasonry. There’s a changing temporary exhibition based on the collections displayed in the centre aisle.

South Gallery

Take in the impressive South Gallery to discover more treasures from our collections.

Cloakroom

You can leave belongings securely in the cloakroom on the first floor. You need a £1 coin (refundable) to use the lockers.

Toilets and baby changing

There are unisex toilets with baby changing facilities in the corridor between the Museum's North Gallery and Library. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet too, but please ask our team to help, as you'll need to go through some doors.

The Shop at Freemasons' Hall

The award-winning Shop at Freemasons' Hall can be found at the top of the stairs on the first floor next to the Museum. You can find our full gift range for the Museum here, along with a wide collection of publications on freemasonry and souvenirs from your visit.

The Café at Freemasons' Hall

There is a public café on the ground floor of Freemasons' Hall. You can sit down and relax with some light refreshment here.
